After graduating from Logan College of Chiropractic (Logan University) in 1984, Dr. Smith returned to Baton Rouge where he joined a group practice. He is a published author and helped to develop the current guidelines regarding chiropractic care used by Medicaid for the Louisiana State Department of Health and Hospitals.
He has been an instructor for the Chiropractic Association of Louisiana X-ray technicians program. Dr. Smith continued his chiropractic education in family practice through Texas Chiropractic College and successfully completed the course requirements and examinations to become Board Certified through the American Chiropractic Council on Family Practice as a Chiropractic Internist. This certification is designated as a Diplomate of the American Board of Chiropractic Internist and abbreviated as DABCI, which is written after the designation D.C.
In 1995, Dr. Smith started a private practice on Millerville Road in Baton Rouge. After 10 years on Millerville Road and many patient requests that his office be more centrally located, he moved his practice to Bluebonnet Blvd. This location is more easily accessible to all of Baton Rouge and the surrounding area.
Over the past 20 years, Dr. Smith has treated many patients involved in home falls, auto accidents, and a wide range of musculoskeletal complaints due to chronic conditions. He also has counseled many patients on nutrition, lifestyle management, and exercise. He has continued to stay abreast of new treatment developments through continuing education programs attended regularly.
